1950's JNF Mercedes Benz W 196 steel formed 13 inch friction race car with box and driver. Nicely restored by Tony the Xaviator using 2 part auto paint. JNF toy cars by Josef Neuhierl company was founded in Furth, Germany in 1920. His company was among the most prestigious sheet metal toy production companies. They manufactured steel drawn cars from 1920 to 1956, which was the introduction of plastic toys. In 1963 his son Hermann formed Carrera, a.k.a. Neuhierl. Today, Carrera is the world’s leading manufacturer of slot car racing sets.The
JNF Mercedes W 196 "Silver Shadow" 13 inch race car is a rarely found larger scale model. The F1 Mercedes Benz Grand Prix race car made its debut in the 1954 French Grand Prix. After winning 2 World Championships and 9 of the 12 races entered, the race car was retired after the horrible 1955 Le Mans wreck that killed 84 spectators and a driver.
