USSR badge «Excellent artilleryman» was approved by Decree of Soviet Supreme Presidium from May 21, 1942. Badge was awarded to ordinary soliders and junior command personnel for outstanding achievements in artillery shooting. In accordance with the charter, the soviet military badge “Excellent artilleryman” was awarded to ordinary soliders and junior command personnel of Infantry, Navy and NKVD, showing excellent command of an artillery gun or anti-tank gun with direct damage to the enemy. The ability to work as any artillery crew number, competent and high-quality camouflage of guns, and the safety of entrusted state property was also awarded. The badge was made in the same style with other honors awards in order to emphasize the equal contribution to the victory of the various branches of Red army.
